RRC Group D 2025 Detailed Syllabus

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) conducts the Group D examination to fill in various positions in Indian Railways. This year the vacancy is 32,438. The short notification has been published. The exam tests candidates in four main subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Below is the detailed syllabus for each subject.

RRC Group D 2025 Detailed Syllabus

1. Mathematics

This section evaluates basic mathematical skills. Topics include:

  • Decimals and Fractions: Conversion from decimals to fractions and vice versa and operations involving both.
  • LCM and HCF: Finding the least common multiple and highest common factor of numbers.
  • Ratio and Proportion: Understanding and solving problems regarding ratios and proportions.
  • Percentages: Finding percentages and their applications in various contexts.
  • Mensuration: Calculating area, volume, and perimeter of geometric shapes.
  • Time and Work: How much work is done over a certain period of time and relevant calculations.
  • Time and Distance: Problems with speed, distance, and time
  • Simple and Compound Interest: Calculations of interest over time for relevant scenarios.
  • Profit and Loss: Calculating whether there was a profit or loss in a financial business.
  • Algebra: Basic expressions and equations within algebra
  • Geometry and Trigonometry: Basic fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Square Root: Calculating square roots on numbers.
  • Age Calculations: Problems of ages
  • Pipes and Cisterns: Flow of liquids through pipes.
  • Calendar and Clock: Problems based on calendar and clock.

2. General Intelligence and Reasoning

This part of the test evaluates logical thinking and reasoning. The topics involved include:

  • Analogies: Finding the relationships between pairs of words or figures.
  • Coding and Decoding: Transformation of information from one form to another, following specific rules.
  • Relationships: Use knowledge of family relationships and other relationships to answer questions.
  • Jumbling: Rearrange pieces to create a coherent whole.
  • Data Interpretation and Sufficiency: Interpret data and conclude whether enough information has been given.
  • Similarities and Differences: Look for similarities and differences between items.
  • Classifications: Group items together because of common characteristics.
  • Statement and Conclusion: Make conclusions from statements.
  • Alphabetical and Numerical Series: Complete sequences based on patterns.
  • Arithmetic Operations: Use basic arithmetic operations to solve problems.
  • Syllogisms: Using deductive reasoning to conclude.
  • Venn Diagrams: Solve problems that involve sets by using diagrams.
  • Decision Making: Pick the best alternative available given the information.
  • Analytical Reasoning: Use information to solve difficult problems.
  • Directions: Understand and solve problems regarding directions.

3. General Science

This part tests knowledge in the basics of sciences at the 10th standard level. It encompasses:

  • Physics: Basic principles and concepts.
  • Chemistry: Basic chemical principles and reactions.
  • Life Sciences: Knowledge of biological concepts and organisms.

4. General Awareness and Current Affairs

This component tests the awareness of current affairs and general knowledge. Areas include:

  • Science and Technology: Recent breakthroughs and inventions.
  • Sports: Major sporting events and achievements.
  • Culture: Important cultural events and heritage.
  • Personalities: Notable personalities and their contributions.
  • Economics: Basic economic concepts and prevailing economic situations.
  • Politics: Recent political events and governmental policies.
  • Important Events: Important national and international events.
