Recruitment Overview
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has released the notification for the recruitment of 201 Field Assistant posts. This recruitment is under the Agriculture Directorate of the Department of Agriculture, Bihar. The online application will start on 25 April 2025, and the last date to apply is 23 May 2025.
The salary will be in the Pay Level 2 as per the 7th Pay Commission, which is Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 20,200 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 1,900. BSSC Field Assistant 2025 Selection Process
The selection process for BSSC Field Assistant will have multiple stages. These stages are as follows:
- Preliminary Exam (only if number of applicants is more than 40,000)
- Main Exam
- Document Verification
If the number of applications is fewer than 40,000, the commission may skip the preliminary exam and directly conduct the main exam. Final selection will be made based on the marks scored in the main examination and document verification.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
The candidate must have:
- Passed Intermediate (Science stream) from a recognized board, or
- Hold a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution
Other qualifications are not accepted. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be eligible to apply for the post.
Age Limit (As on 1 August 2024)
The minimum age for all categories is 18 years. The maximum age varies according to the category:
- Unreserved (Male): 37 years
- Unreserved (Female): 40 years
- BC / EBC (Male and Female): 40 years
- SC / ST (Male and Female): 42 years
Age relaxation is available for certain categories:
- Persons with Disabilities: Additional 10 years
- Government employees: Additional 5 years
- Ex-servicemen: 3 years plus the length of military service, subject to a maximum of 53 years

BSSC Field Assistant 2025 Detailed Syllabus
Preliminary Exam (if conducted)
The preliminary exam will be objective type and will include questions from the following topics:
- General Studies:
Indian history, geography, economy, polity, sports, culture, and current affairs - General Science and Mathematics:
10th-level physics, chemistry, biology, basic arithmetic, time and work, percentages, LCM, HCF, and averages - Reasoning Ability:
Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogies, number series, coding-decoding, and simple puzzles
Total number of questions: 150
Time duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
Negative marking: 1 mark for each wrong answer
Main Exam
The main exam will have two papers:
- Paper I – Language (Qualifying Paper)
Includes questions from Hindi and English language. This paper is qualifying in nature. - Paper II – Subject Paper
Includes topics from agriculture and science, general knowledge, reasoning, and basic mathematics.
Final merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in Paper II only. Paper I must be cleared to be eligible for Paper II evaluation.
